This may be the most famous tourist attraction in Tono, known as the setting for the Kappa legend that appears in the Tales of Tono. Take a stroll to experience the atmosphere of the folk tale and seek the romance of encountering a Kappa, which has not been seen since it was spotted in 1974.

It's just a normal river, but there's a mysterious atmosphere that makes you think there might be a kappa there. I parked at the Denryoen parking lot and visited the site. It was hot under the scorching sun, and I was drenched in sweat by the time I walked from the parking lot, but walking along the river felt cool. Fishing rods with cucumbers attached are available, so I purchased a fishing permit at Denryoen and set out to catch a kappa!
